SALIENT FEATURES.
1.1 Engineering department is primarily responsible for maintenance and renewal of Civil Engg. assets which comprises of :
(i)4637.61 Kilometers of track, spread over three states of MP, UP & Rajasthan.
(ii) 5185 Nos. of bridges, of which
4491 Nos. are minor bridges
388 Nos. are major bridges
169 Nos. are important bridges
37 Nos. of Road Over bridges.
(ii) 6 Nos. of tunnels.
(iv) 27977.nos. of staff quarters having plinth area of about 1245166.sqm
(v) Other important buildings and structure such as Workshops, Offices, Stations etc. having total plinth area of about 1148164sqm.
1.2Apart from the above, Engineering department is responsible for following items also:
(i)Execution of various sanctioned works.
(ii)Water supply and sanitary arrangements.
(iii)Land management of about 23255.51 Hectares of land.

2.The department is headed by Principle Chief Engineer, Headquartered at Jabalpur.
3.Principal Chief Engineer is assisted by various Heads of the departments as under:

4.In open line organisation of the divisions, Engineering Department is headed by Senior Divisional Engineer (Co-ordination) assisted by various sectional Senior Divisional Engineers/Divisional Engineers
